How to tell if you have a dental or a hospital emergency
The sudden onset of extreme pain to your teeth or gums, without any physical accident occurring, is usually a dental emergency. Other emergencies associated with your mouth may occur so please call us if:
• Your tooth is knocked out, displaced or cracked
• A dental fixture is broken or stuck (eg. Braces wire)
• An object is stuck in your teeth
• Your mouth or teeth are injured in a sporting accident
You should visit the emergency department of your local hospital if your jaw is broken or your lips, gums or tongue are severed or severely damaged.
